MY EXPERIMENT WITH PIPE CLEANERS

So, I'm trying to come up with some different styling ideas for my locs. Not that I don't think they look fine as is, but you know...a girl likes to change up her look every once in a while. Anyway, I've tried using the perm rods for curling--maybe i'm using rods that are too large for the length that I have, but the resulting curls were big and loopy--not the elongated spiral that I really wanted. Oh, the style was really cute and I did like it, it just wasn't what I was envisioning. I've been surfing Youtube, and viewed several tutorials about using pipe cleaners (chenille stems to some of you) to set your locs. They seem to be just what the doctor ordered--CHEAP, CHEAP, CHEAP (I'm just saying, these days you gotta save where you can!) and they seem to produce a beautiful spiral curl. I just got back from Wal-Mart with 50 pipe cleaners; now to experiment with the "pipe cleaner spiral rod set" technique! Will post the results in a couple of days--in the mean time, give me your thoughts and suggestions for styling ideas, fellow loc'rs...blessings to you all!

Now Sis you are talking my language when you say CHEAP. In what section at Walmart did you find the pipe cleaners?

Hey I'm re-experimenting with pipe cleaners myself.

LocRocker posted a youtube video of a fellow locked sister doing a tutorial on pipecleaners. After watching the video I decided to give the pipecleaners another try after several failed attempts. The video was very helpful, its all in the technique.

I just took out my pipe cleaners this morning and the curls look fabulous! They look like they are still on the pipe cleaners. The link to LokRocker's Blog and the youtube video is below. Hope you are successful with the pipecleaners and dont forget to post pics!

hey msfullroller! found the pipe cleaners in the craft section at Wal-Mart (i think it was in the kiddie craft section). a pack of 25 was $.97! i looked for the bigger pack of 100, but they didn't have them in black--think the price was something like $1.97 (?) blessings!

Commercial cleaners often provide wonderful value to the office environment, while not having to worry about staffing a compliment of cleaners. Office Cleaning Johannesburg
